2017-2018 Highlights

This year the 2nd grade Owl Stars have built a wonderful classroom community around our word of the year 'kindness.'  We have had several opportunities to extend kindness to our classmates, school, friends and family, as we are the hands and feet of Jesus. We are always on the lookout for ways to care for, love, and serve others.

In October we celebrated the Rosary by participating in Costa's traditional "Living Rosary" and our classmates acted out the Joyful Mysteries.  We continue to prepare for the Sacraments of Penance and Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Our class was very excited to have a meteorologist from WQAD visit our class to talk about extreme weather.  In January we started STREAM class, and we have enjoyed going to the junior high science room to put on our thinking caps and safety goggles while we experiment and learn.  We can now add and subtract multiple digit numbers, and we're over halfway to our goal of reading 5 million words in 2nd grade.

We look forward to several exciting events this spring including: Penance and Reconciliation, First Communion, our annual Room 7 Science Fair, and the popular Room 7 talent show which showcases the many talents in our room.
