Costa Catholic Academy is a great place to learn and grow!

Come and see our beautiful campus and let us show you what an exciting place Costa is to learn and grown.  We offer a truly loving and caring environment in which your child can flourish in academics, technology, athletics, and the arts.  Children are free to express their love of God and participate in Christian values everyday.   A Costa education will give your child the strong foundation needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond.

Dunker, and Principal Buresh may answer some of your questions. We also provide a "Brighter Futures" brochure, which you can download here. If you are still unsure about the benefits of a Catholic education, this brochure explains the many ways in which a Catholic education prepares students for lifelong success.

4 year old PRE-K INFORMATION

  • Costa Catholic Academy PreK provides a loving environment where families of all faiths are welcome.  It is a wonderful place for each child to gain confidence, develop social skills, and enjoy the journey of a life long love of learning.

  • We offer an all day Pre-Kindergarten program for 4 year olds and follow the same schedule as K-8, which is 7:50 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. Doors open at 7:35 a.m.  The students wear Costa uniforms and have the option of bringing lunch from home or ordering a hot lunch.

  • The Pre-K program offers a warm and fun environment where the children learn through play and socialization.  We also offer a few structured times of the day to help children prepare for the big step into Kindergarten.  Our day begins with prayer, school announcements and Pledge of Allegiance.  Calendar time comes next with days of the week, months of the year, and counting.

  • Center time is a favorite time of day in PreK.  Centers include Blocks, Sand Table, Play-dough, Art, Housekeeping, Dollhouse, Puppets, Library Corner, Puzzles and table top manipulatives, such as legos and pattern shapes.

  • We are fortunate to have the Scholastic Big Day for PreK.  There are 8 themes to explore, from Nature to imagining and Creating.  We also use Jolly Phonics which is an important part of the pre-reading skills.  The kids love to sing the songs and act out the motions for each sound.  Later in the year, the children take home a Mystery Box and we have fun guessing the item based on the beginning sound.

  • Each child has a turn to be the “Star of the Week”.  During their special week, they bring in pictures of their family and we ask questions to get to know details about each friend.  It’s fun to learn how we are alike and how we are all unique, and students have an opportunity to build self esteem as they speak to the class.

  • PreK students participate in “Specials”.  These include:  Art, Music, Computer and Library. We are fortunate to have wonderful teachers leading each of these classes and the children enjoy the variety!

  • When weather permits, we enjoy outside activity on the wonderful playground equipment, prairie, forest, or fields at Costa.  Each day we have a quiet rest time and the children enjoy bringing a stuffed animal or blanket from home for their “resting buddy.”

  • We attend Friday Morning Prayer Assembly, School Mass as well as many other school-wide assemblies and activities.  Costa students learn about Respect, Truthfulness, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship with our Character Counts Books.
